a day in the life

i am not good at grammar, spelling, word play or any of it, but i do feel like in the area of retail i can offer some sound advice, comments, visions and most certainly opinions. none of this may be important, but it will be a great way to try to be heard and if anything keep this off my chest and keep me more sane!



i work for a very well established retail organization with about 130 stores in the united states. i love the company (mostly because it has such a rich and well developed culture) more than any other organization i have ever worked for, and i have worked for quite a few in my 34 years. I enjoy nice benifits and more than anything an opportunity to work with a consumer that appreciates what we have to offer.



i have worked in a lot of places but for whatever reason i have stayed in the service industry. i am not sure if it is because i am a glutton for punishment, or that i have had the lowest of self esteem for some time, maybe just because much against my own liking, i am a rocking good sales person. i think there is a certain kind of individual that is drawn to reatil service. i look around at the people i work with, the people i have worked with, and the person i am and there are so many similarities in the kind of person that chooses to work retail. a person who chooses to work retail is not a season associate, not a part-timer, not someone who works somewhere just to take advantage of the discount (although i must admit that is one of the biggest reasons i applied with, or chose with my current employer). a person that chooses to work retail
